Hi there!
My name is Julia Prajza (prize-uh) and I’m a Muralist, Lettering Artist & Designer living and creating in the west end of Toronto. I like to dabble in a lot of things so my work is quite diverse, ranging from custom painted mailboxes to large scale murals, wedding calligraphy and chalkboard signage to digital art and hoarding exhibit artwork. As I'm constantly exploring new mediums and expanding my creative skills, my goal is constant; to bring more joy and colour into our everyday lives.
With a background in Graphic Design and Art Direction (OCAD University BDes) I like to balance out my art practice by alternating between the digital and tangible worlds. I've been a professional working artist for the past 4.5 years, producing 70+ diverse murals. I work with arts organizations, local governments, BIAs, developers, businesses, private clients, etc. in order to bring unique projects to life. I’ve also led and curated public art projects, facilitated workshops, organized community murals and more.
As I continue to grow and expand my multidisciplinary practice, I hope to spark curiosity, encourage creativity and cultivate human connection.
my unique ART style
My signature style is vibrant and playful with a whimsical charm. As a proud maximalist, I believe that "more is more" and gravitate towards nature themes, decorative patterns and text-based imagery. Inspired by Art Nouveau and the Arts and Crafts Movement, I love to blend organic shapes with a bold, graphic approach.
My unique "modern-meets-traditional" designs can especially be seen in my Stained Glass Series, homage to Toronto's historical homes and their timeless stained glass windows. Constantly finding inspiration in the world around me, I invite the viewer to observe our surroundings more closely, uncovering magic in the details, and embracing the wonder of the little moments that surround us.
In the rare time that I’m not creating…
You can find me doing hot yoga, reading historical fiction, decorating my house, cooking up a vegetarian storm in my kitchen, sending out snail mail or wandering the streets of Toronto. I like to take long walks in the city, exploring the quiet residential side streets and admiring the gardens and old houses with stained glass windows.
I can also be found enjoying a delicious chai latte or americano at one of the many cafes in the city. I love discovering new spots and WILL absolutely travel for a good cuppa coffee or fabulous brunch. Don’t get me started on brunch...
let’s keep things fresh
I like to keep busy, make plans, brainstorm new creative projects, take workshops, complete lettering challenges and work with fellow creative people on diverse projects. If you think we’re a good match, reach out!
