Learn About My Process
If you’re interested in a commission, please read
At the beginning of any creative project, I request the measurements (in feet) and photos of the wall and general space for context. A general budget or vision is helpful at this time, but not necessary. I usually charge $20-$40/square foot depending on the level of detail, texture of the wall, logistics etc.
Next, I put together 2-3 inspirational moodboards/vision boards with a variety of visual examples. This helps to determine the artistic direction to make sure we are all on the same page. I'm also open to the client sending over pictures if they have an idea in mind. (this step can be skipped if it's a very specific commission)
Along with these boards, I send over an estimate for the project. This is where I match different boards with different price options. This allows the client to visualize the possibilities based on the price, for example the more detailed the design, the more expensive.
Next, we get on a quick call to discuss the project. This is the perfect time to bring questions about the visual directions, budget, timeline, etc.
Once everything is confirmed, I require a 50% deposit upfront. This is before I start sketching anything. Note that I currently only accept e-transfers and that HST is added on top of all costs.
Now for the fun part! This is when I start sketching and exploring ideas for your project. I will provide the client with 2-3 design options to choose from. These will be drawn digitally on my iPad. I will also send over mockups of the designs in the allocated space so you can get a better idea of the final look. *Note that digital colours on a screen will look different when painted in person. They will be less vibrant when in real life because the wall is not back lit.
The client will choose their favourite design and I will make a first round of revisions to that design.
Second round of revisions will be made once I receive feedback from the client.
Final design is approved and we will schedule a set of dates for production. Most of my murals take anywhere from 2-7 days, depending on the location, scale and scope of the project.
Paint, paint, paint. I use high quality acrylic/latex paint that is either exterior or interior depending on the wall. In most cases, a primer will be applied to the wall first to increase the durability and adhesion of the paint to the unique surface. All materials are included in my costs.
Once the project is complete, the remaining balance is due one week after.
